Quick Start
==========
The RealAudio Player provides real time sound over the internet. Once you have installed the RealAudio Player, RealAudio will play automatically when you select any RealAudio file on a World Wide Web page. You do not need to first load the RealAudio Player, it will be loaded by your World Wide Web browser.
Follow these steps to install the RealAudio Player:
1. Double-Click on the "RealAudio Installer" to launch the installation application.
2. Follow the instructions on the screen.
3. Once the RealAudio player is installed and configured with your web browser,
you can go to any web site with RealAudio files, and when you select them via
your web browser they will play. You will not need to launch the RealAudio
Player directly.

Menus
=====
File Menu
========
The File Menu allows you to play RealAudio files directly from tthe RealAudio Player
without using your World Wide Web Browser.
Open ...
The Open menu plays a local file (a file you are not accessing through the internet).
This file must be a RealAudio .ra or .ram file.
Open URL...
Open URL plays a file on a RealAudio server through the internet (without using a World Wide Web Browser). Using the Player in this fashion is not recommended since you have to remember the exact file name and server name. There is no browse option. Enter the filename as follows:
pnm://RealAudioServer/complete-path-to-file
where
pnm specifies that we are opening a file from a Progressive Networks server
RealAudioServer is the address of the Real Audio Server providing this file
complete-path-to-file is the complete path to the file on the RealAudio Server.
This feature is only of value to maintainers of RealAudio servers who want to test their servers. Do not use this feature to open any other kinds of URL such as http, ftp, or gopher. Instead, please use your web browser.
Open Recent
The Open Recent item displays a hierarchical menu that lists the names of up to
99 of the most recent files you have listened to with the RealAudio Player. Selecting the name of a file from this menu will make the RealAudio Player open a connection to the appropriate RealAudio Server and start playing the file. The Recent Menu also includes files that have been played back from your hard disk. Please note that if you move or delete a local file that has been added to the Open Recent menu, you may get the message "File not found". You can set the number of recent files to display in this menu by entering a value in the range 0-99 in the Recent Items field of the Preferences dialog.
